Creativity Reloaded!: Creative Potential

Most people don't realize they are a creator.  Most people believe they don't have a creative bone in their body but you are so far from the truth.  When God created you he filled you with thoughts, ideas and the ability to create. Being creative is something that is a part of who you are. You don’t have to try to be creative you just are.
I think we all get it wrong when it comes to creativity.  We get it wrong because we don’t realize the potential of our own creativity. To understand our own creativity we need understand what creativity means.  Creativity is the use of the imagination or original ideas.  You have original ideas all the time.  When you mixed vanilla, instead of almond, into that recipe you just created a new recipe. When you added a scarf to your new outfit you created an original outfit.
Imagination + Original = Creativity
Creativity is not hard or deep. We make variations and changes to things in our everyday life all the time.  We change our driving route to work, change how to do household chores, or even change how to we solve a math problem to meet our needs.  It makes me wonder, “Why is it easy to create the regular stuff but hard to create the awesome?”
It’s Simple. We don’t tap into creativity because we have learned to believe lies about our Creative Potential.  We have pre-conceived thoughts that say, “Being creative means you have to be artsy or a designer.” That is not true.  When you are able to tap into your creativity you are able to accomplish so much. You can accomplish the things that you like, without copying someone else's original.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin tapped into creativity to start Google.  The Internet would not be the same if Google had not been created. Page and Brin create something that changed the world just by seizing their Creative Potential. What is the difference between them and you? Nothing!

So happy I found your site! I'm actually working on creativity this month as part of my happiness project and this post was exactly the pep talk I needed :)
